Mona Lisa is one of the enigmas of modern painting, during the painting process there wore used techniques that even today are hard to comprehend.

Everything that’s associated with this painting is fascinating, from the way it was painted to the character represented and the paintings history.




Its assumed that Mona Lisa was painted between 1503 and 1507 in Florence, Italy, and that some retouching wore made until 1517.

Experts say that the character painted is Lisa del Giocondo and that the painting was commissioned by hers husband.

During time, Mona Lisa had many homes, she was repeatedly moved from the Palace of Fontainebleau to The Palate of Versailles, to the Louvre, Chateau d’Ambroise, Loc-Dieu Abbey, Ingres de Montauban Museum.

In 1911 she was stolen and was recovered after nearly 3 years, in 1914. Over time many vandalism attempts toke place, some of them successful.

The size of the completed tapestry is 30 x 31 centimeters, and its number of colors is 90. The relative big number of colors makes will transform the tapestry in a veritable painting with the needle, closely reproducing the Leonardo’s famous painting.
